…and we were victorious. The Hooptainers took on (and defeated) the Venice Beach All-Stars during the charity game at the Westwood Recreation Center. For those that don’t know, the VBL All-Stars is a team that plays in the Venice Basketball Leauge which consists of notable players as Bone Collector, Spinmaster, Inches (from Slam Ball), Sik Wit It, Air Dogg, Hollywood and Big Rip.
With only 7 players, the Hooptainers put up 107 points! Out of the 7 players, only 5 of them were core members (Jay Boogie, Now U Know, The Beast, No He Didn’t and The Setup King) and 1 guest player - Simon Deveer (“One Tree Hill”). Even at a charity game where fans would expect nothing but highlights, the Hooptainers played tight defense and made every possession count, it wasnt long before they jumped out to a 28 – 7 lead in the first half. By half time, Jay had already amassed 22 points and they were up by 35 points! In the end, the Hooptainers finished off the VBL All-Stars by a score of 107 -82. Jay finished with 36 points and 13 assist and for majority of the game he was guarded by Sik Wit It.
Notable Stats: Now U Know (23 pts), No He Didn’t (22pts), Setup King (18 pts).
